Pass It On - a new series from LOR x Dishoom
We’re so excited to introduce Pass It On - a new series from Ladies of Restaurants in partnership with Dishoom, built around one simple idea: sharing knowledge.
Pass It On is a programme of hands-on workshops designed to support people in hospitality at every stage of their careers. Led by Dishoom’s senior leadership team alongside a line-up of brilliant guest speakers, the series will cover everything from financial literacy and leadership to creativity, communication and finding your voice in the industry.
It’s about opening up conversations, sharing real experiences, and passing on the things that aren’t always written down - the kind of knowledge that helps you grow, move forward and feel more confident in what you do.
Launch Party Permit Room - Liverpool
We’re kicking things off with a launch party in Liverpool at the brand new Dishoom Permit Room — and you’re invited.
This is a free event and a chance to come together with the LOR community in the North - meet other women in hospitality, have a drink, grab some snacks, and be part of the start of something new.
We’ll be sharing more about the Pass It On programme, what’s coming up across the series, how to sign up to workshops, and ways to get involved.
Expect great drinks, great food, and a room full of people who get it.
Northern girlies - this one’s for you.
Come solo, come with your team, come ready to chat.
It all started…
in 2015 when one woman wanted to get a collective of women she knew from the industry together for a drink down the pub to connect and commiserate. The email ended with ‘last week someone tried to chat me up, someone told me I was "f***ing shit" to my face and someone else told me if I don't vote Tory I'm an idiot - I need a little motivation.’ It was fair to say those of us on that group email laughed out loud, shed a small tear and immediately put the date in our diary to meet.
Since that fateful email LOR has grown from sipping pints down the pub, to hosting events across the UK in Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Brighton and one very special trip to Helsinki. We have covered topics such as; guilt, career progression, confidence, mental health, race, parenthood and more.
LOR is a community and a place to learn, grow, have fun and feel supported.
It’s for ladies living that hospitality life.

FOUNDER
What is LOR?
LOR is a community designed to inspire, support, and empower. Our mission is to build confidence, develop skills, and drive career progression, helping more women enter and thrive in the hospitality industry.
We achieve this by hosting events, workshops, training sessions, and networking opportunities, all while fostering a strong, supportive community.
We are advocates for a more equitable and sustainable industry—and we celebrate women every step of the way.
Why is LOR needed?
Hospitality is the UK’s third-largest employer, with women representing approximately 60% of the workforce in the UK. LOR recognises the unique needs of women working in this industry, from the struggle to achieve a manageable work-life balance, to safety concerns, and the ways that gender bias can impact career progression.
Our Goals
Community - Fostering a strong and supportive community sits at the core of LOR’s work. Both online and off, we create space for women to connect and support each other through events, networking opportunities, and, soon, a digital community platform.
Knowledge Sharing - Everyone brings something to the table and there is power in our collective wisdom. Through online resources, education and workshops focused on a range of topics, including ingredients and sourcing, business, and people management, we give our community members the tools they need to grow and thrive in their careers.
Leadership - Women are vastly underrepresented in leadership roles across the hospitality industry, occupying just 20% of these positions in the UK. At LOR, we work in pursuit of a stronger, happier, and balanced hospitality industry. We envision a future that champions women as confident leaders and role models within the food and beverage industry and ultimately supports them in building the fulfilling hospitality careers that they deserve.
